This episode is Part 2 of my interview of Paul Gough, an England-based physiotherapist and cash-based practice owner with four clinic locations. What’s most impressive about this is that his business is almost 100% cash-based in a country where everyone can get physical therapy completely for free. That’s right, most of his patients pay $100-$150/visit out-of-pocket at his clinics, even though they would pay $0 to go to his competition.
We continue our conversation about exactly how he has done this, and get into all the details so you can recreate his unique marketing system for your practice.
In Part 2 of this interview, you’ll learn about these cash-based practice topics:
- Exactly what you should include in the emails you send to your prospective patients
- Why Paul is not as big a fan of “testimonials” as he is of patient “stories”
- How far apart you should space your emails and your phone calls to prospective patients
- Why the “Call to Action” in his emails is never to “Book an Appointment Now”
- The two-tiered pricing structure Paul has set for his PT treatments and the clever labels he uses for them
- How he and his staff address the objection: “But I could get Physio for Free from [competitor] clinic down the road” and the very specific wording they use in doing so
- How he trains his staff and makes sure they are not only great therapists and admin, but they understand how to sell themselves and their services
- What three emails he sends to all new patients and how he compels them to spread the word about his clinics long before discharge
- Great advice on how to get started, no matter how low tech or high tech you may be.
Resources and Links mentioned in this episode:
- Phone Amigo – (It’s actually Phone “Amego” but I can’t bring myself to spell it like that 🙂
- The webpage Paul created to have his patients send to family/friends, increasing word of mouth and lead capture.

This is an incredible program where Paul walks you step by step through creating your own Direct Response Patient Generation System like the one he described in this episode.
